Godfrey Flury (Dr. Alvin Flury)

Year: 1920
Areas of Significance: Art
City: Austin

Alvin Flury's father was Godfrey Flury, a close friend of Mansbendel. In fact, Mansbendel delivered a moving eulogy upon Godfrey's death in 1936. According, to Dr. Alvin Flury, his father commissioned Mr. Mansbendel to carve the Deer Trophy plaque in 1932. The deer was killed by Mr. Willie Dieter of Austin who had a hunting lease 10 mi. north of Kerrville on Felix Ahrens ranch. The footstool Mr. Mansbendel carved for Alvin's mother Alvine in 1920, when she was pregnant with Alvin. The book cover was carved for Godfrey Flury (year unknown).
